My main 50" TV went a few days back and i was just getting ready to buy a 144hz 1440p monitor for gaming.
Well with the need to purchase a TV now, the monitor is out of the question so i was thinking of just getting a Vizio D50U http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A0LGV06?tag=rtings-tv-bm01a-20&ie=UTF8
which was very highly rated for gaming and movies for a under $500 4K TV.
Can i use this for 1440P gaming as well as watching 1080p content?
For the $500 this Vizio cost's i don't see the point/logic of buying another 1080 TV for the same price, mine as well get a 4K and use it for 1440 if i can?

It is on the look at list. There are 3 or 4 sets i can afford at the moment.
Even the $500 Vizio D50U has my interest due to what i read about it for the price they cost.

, Vizio's for example are said to NOT be very good at upscaling
compared to others like Sony or Samsung.
I still have not bought a set because i need to be 100% sure of everything before buying because after this it will be quite some time before i can buy another set.
unfortunately my disability check does not pay much and affording a real good TV right now is not easy🙁

Never heard of that company?
What would make that a better choice over the SONY 55" 810C which has a 120hz refresh rate(60hz@4K) VA display and not IPS
and 4:4:4 chroma on 1080p and up.
Keep in mind i also will be watching movies and youtube vids on the panel

Basically, the mango is built for a higher end graphics card with the ability to display a broadcast TV signal more involved due to no built in tuner (there is a similar model that has one) but also equally as good as any TV once achieved. For their size and picture quality, they can't be beat right now, but are limited to 60hz and the freesync range is not all that great because even being a bit over a year old after release, they are already getting dated considering what should be coming out very soon across the board for 2016 models. Also, to keep a 4K monitor like this above a constant 40 FPS for it's DP 1.2 limited freesync range would likely require two unreleased RX 490s in order to use high settings in future games. The following review pretty much applies to the 49" version-

What do you mean by bad upscaling in some TV's?

To be clear, VA beats IPS picture quality, it's night and day. Everyone stating IPS beats VA picture quality should be ignored. Facts over opinion in this case.

The major downside for VA TV's (not monitors) are the viewing angles. But, you don't see reviews pointing that out as an issue for consumers, and consumers still buy the most popular TV brand, Samsung, which only makes VA TV's. So it's an overexaggerated issue, and I feel like it's used against VA just because people can. Pointless arguments are all over the internet...

At that price, the X810C is still the best option.

It beats the mango at

Picture quality
Contrast ratio
Black level
Defect ratio
Refresh rate
Movies (24p playback)
TV tuner
Not forced to use a korean remote

I can't find the input lag or the response time of the Mango but please explain to me how that monitor is better value?

I wound up getting the SONY 810c but i cannot get it to do 4;4;4 @ 4K 60hz? or 120hz at 1080p
on this site http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x810c
it states this set will do 4:4:4: @4K and be 60hz and do 120hz on 1080p
I am getting 30hz in 4K and 30hz in 4K and at 1440p which is what i wanted to game at.
Do i have to set anything in the nvidia control panel? I seen no option for 120Hz?
also the set has backlight bleeding in the bottm corners as many owners of this set have reported but it is very minor compared to the pics i saw of others sets.

Really not a big deal, no noticeable difference imo, but you'd have to view two TV's side by side, which is basically what reviewers are doing. They review TV's, then compare their older results to their newer results, or better vs worse, literally side by side.

Please link the HDMI cable you're using

According to rtings
To be able to display 4:4:4, simply set the mode to game or computer. For 4k @ 60Hz @ 4:4:4, you will also need to turn on 'HDMI Enhance', under 'Home' - 'Settings' - 'External Inputs

I use a monster brand HDMI cable that i got over a year ago on ebay and i don't have the spec's on it
it was on sale for $12 but normally sold for $25-$30 and when i set it to HMDI enhance i get a black screen with sound?

I cant see a native 4k tv scaling down to 2k look good at all, most likely ugly artifacts and poor scale. Also most 4k tv's try to scale everything up to 4k and with hdr and a ips display at 4k i cant see the response time being good at all. Also why would you want to downscale a 4k when you can just buy a 2k monitor ips 144hz. 4k tvs refresh rates are very misleading... artificial frames. Movies are shot in 24fps then upconverted to 29.7fps then through 4:3 scaling or whatever upconvertes but with gaming 4k res is caped at 60hz right now due to cable functions not tv/pc function.

Here is what i said in my very first post as to why i bought a TV and not a monitor
"My main 50" TV went a few days back and i was just getting ready to buy a 144hz 1440p monitor for gaming.
Well with the need to purchase a TV now, the monitor is out of the question

As you can see i did not buy a 2K monitor simply because i had only enough money for a TV which had to be bought due to my main set breaking down a few weeks ago
not to mention i prefer to game on a big screen like my 50" i used for the last two years before it broke
There are many that use a 810C and others at 1440P and have no issues with response time or bad picture quality.
Just for the 810C alone i read reviews from at least 50 owners/users that game with it and have no issues and it was rated as a excellent PC monitor in every review online.
