First off,
here are some specification about your computer: I am not able to get the user manual(because acer website sucks)

1- you will probably get problems with the card because it's 3 gb memory

2-Next, I would say that your cpu might bottleneck

If I where you, I would sell the computer and rebuild a new one because Acer computer are not gaming computer.

 
That is the wrong specs, he has the m3970 not the m3870. Notice in the link he posted, he has a i5 2300 not an i3 530. And the max that you bolded is referring to the integrated intel graphics.

A XFX power supply will have quality behind it all of there power supplies of late have been of a oem quality (Seasonic). To my knowledge the reason he is not pushing the gigabyte card is primarily due to the length of the card being placed within your case he is trying to avoid a compatibility issue due to your cases small design.
 
Ummm, well I was reading some threads on various sites and a lot of people tend to go for the gigabyte due to its 3 fans, saying how it never gets hot. But if thats not an issue then sure, I'll get the XFX.

Thats exactly why I wanted a 650+ psu, I'd like to keep it for quite some time so that if I decide to build my own pc and it requires more power, I wouldn't want to buy a new one. I would have thought that I needed like 550+ for this gpu. Thanks

That is good to see how long your case is however inside your case the dimensions could be less. My guess is anything beyond 10 inches will become an issue with your case. Although it is possible it would sneak under the drive bay its hard to tell.
 
Yea a 7950 would be to long for your case. I'll list a couple of cards that may do the job. Here is a zotac card its as small as the 660Ti's get. Keep in mind though that the fan volume on there coolers is said to be unbearable.
Zotac GTX 670 Amp!

Zotac's card is the gaming Ferrari. It's up there as the most expensive GeForce GTX 670 in our round-up. It's also quite fast. Whereas you want your super-car to let out a throaty bellow, though, that's not an attractive quality in a graphics card, and this one is fairly loud. In our opinion, we would have liked to see Zotac trade some of its cooler's excellent heat dissipation for a lower fan speed (and less noise). With that said, the AMP! Edition board isn't so loud that it's unusable. We'd still probably throttle the fan using a software utility, though. We also noticed some resonance between the fans, which can result in an annoying low-frequency wail at certain RPM levels.

Damm btw, I'm glad you understoon that I made a mistake on my size pic, it's suppose to be 15cm 15 cm and 9 cm.

Could you show me where exactly the gigabyte wouldn't fit, or any other card that you say wouldn't fit, I'm really a novice to this :/

It would take up the blue slot and the slot beneath it because of size. Also you would have to move your nic card to the lower PCI-E connections. Furthermore It looks like you have a usb white cable under the nic car which would have to be moved to make room for the larger card.

Also, I know you may not believe that you can changes cases but I think you can. You made it onto the forums you are asking questions. If you wanted to do it I say you could. Here are a few instructional videos if you end up curious. Paul from newegg goes slow goes into great depth and makes it really easy for others to understand.

If the pcie slot is lower than your hdd cage than it'll fit. I already googled your case. http://icdn1.digitaltrends.com/image/acer-aspire-m3970-review-side-cover-open-625x583-c Which brought up my suggestion to change card in the first place. I just really can't say for sure that it is lower from this picture though. But with you actually seeing the case, you could see. A dual fan card will still stay cool enough and is cheaper too.

I am already giving you an extra 100w with that 550w psu. A 550w psu can already use the highest end single gpu (7970 with power to spare) and components are using less and less power.
 


Are you sure thta the 7950 is 11.4", I've looked on some sites and it seems to say 10.7" :s


k1114 so would it be ok if I get the 550w psu you suggested earlier? Even if I decide to upgrade future parts. If yes then I'll definitely get it as it is cheaper.

And would you guys be able to help me if I buy the card and have some difficulties.

Every card is different but you should expect AMD cards to be a little longer mostly over the Nvidia counterparts. Point being is that your case is a little small for the longer cards. I would also worry about air flow if you have a good amount of the card under a drive bay.
