I wanted to install a program, but there comes a message: this app has been blocked for protection.
I already deactivated the windows smartscreen, but this message still comes up. What else shall i deactivate?
Is this safe?

Are you the Administrator on your system?
Do you have the actual admin password?

Step by step, in as much detail as you can give us, what exactly happens when you try to install this.

Ignore some random utube video. What happens on your system.
Screencaps would be helpful.

I get the same message that you can see in the video 'This app has been blocked for your protection' an Administrator has blocked you from running this app. And I only can click on "close"

Do you have any issues installing anything else?

My gut feel is that the firewall software does not have a valid security cert, so the question is why? Is it dodgy (their strap line is excellent software so possibly), or they're not up to date with their certs, in either case, find another one. I just use the windows one.

Its my PC, and it only happens with this program, no problems with other software. Well i wanted to have this FW for my new PC

Yeah, sounds like an invalid cert.
If a company can't keep their certs up to date for a firewall/security application, I'd walk on by.

Apparently not, if you have to mess with your Registry and existing security settings just to install it.

What does this do that the built in Windows firewall does not do?

It can block programs that i dont want to get connected to the internet, stops sending telemetric data to windows, stops web-tracking etc..

how do you know it is legitimate? how do you know it is not itself malware posing as a firewall?

That happens to a lot of things.

Sometimes a malicious copy gets put in place of the real one.
Or they simply put the wrong file up there.
Or any of a number of other reasons.

I certainly wouldn't alter my Windows settings just to install this thing that serves no purpose that other, known valid, applications can do.
Your OS is trying to protect you, and you're trying to subvert that protection.
