Ok so here's the deal. I need to get my own internet plan, I live with my mom and stepdad and they shut the internet off every night due to the "lights keeping them up" (I know.) They won't budge on the subject.

My main source of income is my YouTube channel and I need to be able to upload videos overnight. I'm prepared to buy my own internet service, but apparently where I live (central Florida in Longwood) there's only two viable choices: Brighthouse standalone internet which is like $60 for a basic "up to 10 mbps" plan (ugh...) and CenturyLink which is $40 for up to 10 mbps as well and a crappy less than 1 mbps upload.

Now my question is am I really locked into these ridiculous prices of $60/$40 for crappy internet since Fiber/Uverse isn't available in my area? This is really killing me and I'm not big on this subject so it's hard for me to decipher my options :/

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have got to be kidding with me.

I live in an area of town which has World War 2 homes up beside new million dollar mansions.

The Phone cable running out of our house is hung (yes it hangs literally) 200FT across the lot and 5 km to a central office. Local utilities will not hook it up to a new service line that was run up the street (they see it as no point for an older home).

The Cable line into the house again is run 200ft across the lot and where ever it goes. The cable line has little noise compared to the phone line which disconnects as the wires have so much noise.

The cable service due to the cable itself maxes out about 15MB service. That is if the cable and everything was 200% ok. I get barely a 3 meg service in actuality. Cost is $40 a month.

Did I mention the house next door was million +

You think they'd change the infrastructure in the area to accommodate, but nope.

You can't just put black electrical tape over the LED's?

Yes, unfortunately that's the typical cost when you have limited competition in your area.

I have 5 ISP's in my area as a comparison and I get 75/5 for ~$55.

It's a problem with lack of competition that can't be circumvented as it is right now unfortunately.
