Hey guys a friend of mine has been a victim of this pathetic scam, basically she let them on to her netbook and when they threatened her she knocked my door, now she has that "this computer is configured to require a password" I said leave it with me but i need some help ive looked online (google) and tried a few things but nothing worked, Can someone help please

Then use a Ubuntu Live CD and get AVAST and run a scan.

Try doing this solution again:

Tell your friend to be prepared for losing her documents as some files might have been deleted.

Ive tried that tutorial but tbh i have no clue what hes talking about as i dont understand where he says Boot to external media of some sort (NOT your Windows installation) and navigate to the %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\config folder. if he means the ubuntu livecd then ive done that, gone to devices, clicked acer and thats how far i can go as it says something about unable to mount? thanks for helping by the way ur a start much appreciated indeed

It may seem strange or silly but I just got a windows 7 computer that showed this box "this computer is configured....."
I typed 1234 then hit OK and I was IN!
Don't know if I was just lucky or ?
Hope this helps someone else.
