I have a super technical question. I have a vizio m51a-h6 soundbar. I also have a Windows tower pc with an Nvidia 4060 graphics card capable of dolby surround output. I understand how to set up my computer for dolby surround output (via dolby access.) Over the years I bought a TCL 65 in. TV that works perfectly fine with this setup. The Tv automatically picks the correct sound input option that work with my computer an the TV then works with my soundbar to output in true dolby surround sound.

However for the life of me when I tried this with my 55 in LG tv, i tried every setting combination I could and I could not get the output to work in surround sound. It always went to stereo :-(. I am selling my old TCL tv, and now Im looking for a TV that will work like my old tv but Im afraid of buying the wrong kind of TV. My question is what TV's work best with this type of setup? Is there a specific setting that I need to have in order for this to work? Please help me make a good decision. Thank you.

Normally you would connect the TV's earc hdmi port to the sound bar's earc hdmi port. Then in the TV menu you set the Sound option to Pass Through. If you could give us more info about the specific LG model that would help.

I don't think you understand what my question is. My question is, are there specific TVs that offer a true dolby atmos experience, that is output to my vizio m51a soundbar, with the tv being used as an hdmi monitor from my windows 11 computer (nvidia 4060 rtx graphics card.)

That is the way my LG C4 model OLED65C4PUA works. But I have a Sennheiser Ambeo Max soundbar, which is a true Atmos soundbar with speakers pointing up. In your case your question is not relevant, because your soundbar only has 6 speakers to provide 5.1 sound, and not 8 or more speakers to provide 7.1 Atmos sound. So unless you are also getting a new soundbar with speakers pointing up, your TV does not matter. Perhaps if you get a Vizeo SL-512X then you would be able to achieve what you desire.

For Atmos to work you must have an Atmos capable amp/soundbar system.
You have a 5.1 system.
Not a 7.1 ,7.2 or 9.2 system for Atmos to work.
You might get software Atmos for headphones to try to recreate Atmos on 5.1 channels, but I have never tried. And not sure what it would sound like.
