I have an Asus A7N8X-VM board ordered. Want 512 mb of DDR 400 memory for it.
From the ASUS website info for this board, it say that Kingston
KVR400X64C25/256 memory is compatible.
But I want to use 512 mb modules, as I think this will allow me to expand up
to 1 GB dual channel later on. I will start with just one 512 mb module, so
it will only be single channel at first.
I found Kingston DDR400 /512 mb modules at eBay--- it is the same part
number except /512 instead of /256. Does the fact that the Asus website
didn't specifically list the 512 mb counterpart of the 256 mb module mean
that it will NOT work with this motherboard? Or just that they didn't test
it, perhaps? Is it a gamble whether the mobo will work right with this
memory or not?
