With static content being the arch enemy of OLED due to burn in I really dont see how this cool concept will work out in the long run.
Change your layout only to see burnt in images of the last one!!

Have it "ripple" every now and then. Or have it so when you're inactive, it plays a "screensaver" like the CRTs of old. Anyone remember the Flying Windows screensaver?

The manufacturer recommends you randomize the keys to avoid screen burn-in.

Wouldn't "Color e-Ink" screens be more useful for this type of application of KeyBoards with change-able Type-Faces?

Color e-Ink would definitely eat ALOT less power than any form of active Display.

Controlling all those tiny screens requires a processor in each half of the split keyboard

Why is that required, couldn't a regular computer just do it over USB?
