I'm getting started in Godot, going through some online tutorials. I was just curious if any of you made any games with some kind of "prank" or "joke" item. Bonus points if the player could drop, sell or disable the item if they didn't find it amusing or got tired of it.

These are commonly known as Easter Eggs.

One memorable one that i just recalled is in the Lego: Lord of the Rings PC game, where you can unlock (collect) secret item named Mithril Disco Phial. And once you equip it, all NPCs around you start dancing and great song starts playing. :cheese:

Most Lego games actually have many such fun jokes and Easter Eggs in them. :)
And all Lego games also have "cheats" in them, that you can earn, unlock and enable/disable at your leisure. Like earn 10x the studs, invincibility, 8-bit music etc.

So, what you're asking, is actually quite common in video game industry.

Diablo II, there was The Diggler a unique Dirk. Which is a fictional porn star in Boogie Nights named after the character Dirk Diggler.

I'm sure there are plenty in WoW but none come to mind. Plenty of normal Easter eggs and references to pop culture though. I laughed out loud at "The goggles! They do nothing!" which was a Simpsons reference.

And there are many, many games that have special funny or whacky equipment. Mr. Toots from Red Faction Armageddon has been copied a lot into other games.
