Thoughts on build?

Solution
Very solid build, but I'd highly recommend the addition of an SSD for the operating system. If necessary, you could add one later though. The rest of the components are high quality with known reliability.

That's a very good case as well. I just did builds with that case and a V71, both were nice to work with.

I disagree. Why spend anywhere from 40 to 80 bucks just to have windows start in 15 - 20 seconds. Also have to put up with correctly setting up an SSD to be a boot drive. Not to mention SSD's have a higher failure rate than HDD because SSD has not be perfected yet. Not worth the money. In my opinion.

No offense, really, but you have no idea what you're talking about. There are a plethora of reasons why an SSD is a better option, boot times being the least of them. You really shouldn't make blanket statements like that when you clearly don't understand the impact.

No. You are a fan boy of SSD's because that is the new crack for computer people. I work in the tech field and have seen numbers of these drives after 1 1/2 to 2 years dead. You can look at the reviews on the net and see that the ratio of bad reviews between HDD and SSD strongly lean towards SSD's.

Sure, raid configuration, boot drive, most commonly used programs drive. Sure all nice. Until they die or drops out of the raid array. SSD's do nothing for gaming. Sure your game will load faster. That is it though. No increased FPS. Just load times are faster. Honestly, not worth the money right now. You could always put that money towards something else in your PC, because HDD have worked for 50 years. No need to switch yet. Especially if you have something like a WD black drive. No offense taking. I am not going to get offend because I am right.

I used some top-quality parts that are a bit less expensive so you could have a SSD.

There are just as many HDD's dead after short lifespans as well. In fact, it's probably a lot MORE likely to have a mechanical drive fail prior to the warranty expiring than it is for an SSD. And I'm not a fanboy of anything. I simply know the facts and know what I'm talking about, instead of implying OLD considerations and suppositions are fact, when they are not. If it was five or ten years ago, you'd be right. Current generation SSD's are likely to outlive their mechanical counterparts when used as OS drives and not for writing and rewriting large amounts of storage data.

I will agree with you about lasting longer if you are talking laptop. I don't believe this out lasting longer though when it comes down to desktop and taking care of your equipment. I have 4 HDD next to me right now. 3 Western digital and 1 Seagate. age range from 9 years youngest to 13 years oldest. Still working. Also (this coming from a data recovery business in the area) SSD's are more prone to data corruption and they see a lot more SSD than HDD walk through their door. So you can reply and say you know what you are talking about. You will be wasting your energy typing.
