Thoughts on this PC?

I am working on designing a PC that I plan to build at the end of the year. I am not the best when it comes to designing systems and with that being said could you please take a look at this below and tell me if parts are incompatible or if I could be making better decisions on part (for money and performance). My intentions for this PC is to use it for gaming.

Motherboard: ASUSTek P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3*
RAM: Kingston Hyper X 16GB (8GBx2) Kit DDR3-1866 CL10 240-Pin
CPU: Intel Core i7-2700K Processor @3.5 GHz*
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition 8GB GDDR5X
HDD: Seagate ST310005 24AS*
SSD: Intel 540s Series 480GB SSD

Edit: There are plenty of other things to determine I just want to ensure the hardware is compatible and capable.

It's a nice build overall, but why a 2th gen CPU? it's kinda old already, I wouldn't go older than 4th gen nowadays.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like a solid build, but I would spend a few more dollars on the CPU.

What are your recommendations in terms of a new CPU what I've found is that the 2700k (which I already own) is still very capable but also replaceable in the coming years.
