Hello!

I am currently in the process of creating a build, and I was looking for something along the lines of a GTX 970 or R9 390. I noticed through PC Part Picker, that (in Canada), VisionTek's model of the Radeon R9 390 is only $379.99 (http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00ZQ9JKSS/?tag=pcp0f-20 [Amazon]). This is very appealing to me, and I would very much like to bite the bullet, but unfortunately I have no experience with VisionTek's products. What are your opinions? Really what I want to know is:
a) Does it run at a similar temperature to other cards like that of MSI, ASUS, or even Sapphire for example?
b) How loud is it compared to other cards?

I'm sure it runs fairly similar to every other 390, so I won't ask too much about performance, but I'm just unsure about VisionTek's cooler on the card. If it runs cool and is decently quiet, I will definitely be picking this up!

Thanks for the help!

It looks like a nice card, only thing I can find so far is an unboxing video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcBvGkesdXs

My main thought is make sure it has a decent warrentee, if it's got a couple of years or more your probably pretty safe (manufacturers don't put long warentees on kit they expect to fail!).

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the warranty. It seems that they have a 2 year warranty (at the bottom here: https://www.visiontek.com/graphics-cards/visiontek-radeon-r9-390-detail.html ) so that's nice. I really would like a video of the card while an intensive game is playing, just so I could get an idea of its loudness, but honestly with a two year warranty and at $379.99, I think this is a good one to go for. I will be ordering it tomorrow, thanks! :)

Do me a favor, FordPrefectV, after you buy the card PLEASE make certain you register it. Our full warranty is only effective after the card is registered, otherwise it defaults to a one year warranty. https://www.visiontek.com/warranty-information.html This is pretty standard among all companies, but I hate seeing folks hemmed up. Call us with any issues 1 866 883 5411, or support@visiontek.com. We're open M-F, 8:00 AM to 5 PM CST except holidays.

Thanks

I'm really impressed that you guys keep an eye on forums like this and give that kind of advice- going above and beyond imo :) I think I might have to look into a Visiontek card for my next purchase if this is indicative of the company philosophy / support!

Thank you cdrkf, and it is indicative. I work to help as many folks as I can, but unfortunately cannot please everyone. Quite a few times, it hasn't worked out. I check these forums on a semi regular basis, as scheduling and workload permits, and scour the Web looking for posts that may be of interest. When I was in the military I had a philosophy: If they are going to use my name, it will not be in tandem with a curse word. 😉

Wow, I am very impressed with this response, thank you very much :) . I wasn't aware that I needed to register it to get the full warranty, so this is actually very helpful. I have not yet received card (temporarily out of stock on amazon), but as soon as I get it I will be sure to register it for the full warranty! Thanks a lot!

Just lurking myself. Got a sweet deal on VT R9 390 on Amazon ($249.00 US). I'm looking foward to this upgrade from R9 270x 4g.

Just make sure you register it for that full warranty 😉 I hate to keep hammering this point home, but as they say, "Where there is smoke, there is fire."

Congrats on the card!
