Thoughts on why I am running warm/hot?

HI everyone,

My cpu seems to be running hot. I used to idle in the upper 20s / low 30s. but now its idling around 50 and getting towards 80c under load. Even when I used to benchmark it would barely hit upper 60s?
Any thoughts ?
4790k stock
h110i gtx AIO
z97a gaming 7
32 gb ddr3 hyper x stock settings
1080ti ftw
760t case
2 140s blowning in the front, one 140 blowing in from the rear, and the AIO mounted on top blowing out with two 140s and a third 140 blowing out as well.

Never had issues.. I did recently swap to the 1080ti but it didnt have issues. I then noticed it a bit warmer here and there so I removed the AIO, blew some air all around to clean dust. Cleaned and reaaplied thermo. all was good

I played around (and the system seemed to run better and cooler) when I OC'd to 4.7ghz at 1.275v just to run some benchmarks when I got the ti. All seemed well. I reverted back to the defaults in the bios and here I am running into hot temps for no apparent reason.

Also the room is about mid 60,s temp..

Any thoughts would be great.

This might be a bit of a stretch, but if you unplug the fans from the AIO do you hear the AIO pump making a "humming" noise so to speak? You'll probably need to get really close to hear it. If not does the radiator get warm/hot to the touch after some stress on the cpu? If thats a no to either then your AIO may be dying or dead.

-edit: Also, have you tried reseating it and making sure the bracket around the cpu is secure, along with the heatsink making full coverage with the cpu? Remember when taking it off to clean it off and apply new thermal paste.

Hi thanks, so I took your idea and ran with it. Took the pump and rad out. I noticed what I junk looks like a light thermal application. But I also think I hear a sound. Not sure if the sound always existed or if I hear it now since you brought my attention towards it.

So I cleaned it( totally should have added photos of it) but I decided to fire it up while I had t out to record the noise.. so I have pump failure ? I don’t know but I can hear it when I’m up close

Yeah the cooler may be failing or has already failed, if you still have a warranty on it see if they'll honor it and send you a new one.

So I have put the stick cooler in and I am getting way better temps than with the h110i, so here’s def an issue with it. I emailed Corsair Friday and they have a two business day reply policy. So I have to “patiently” await their response. I bought it sept 19, 2015 and have read conflicting reviews in warranty’s timeline. Some places I have read 2 and others 5 years( fingers crossed its 5 years) Hanks for the help so far, I really appreciate it !

The rma has been approved, I just have to mail it back and await the new one to come to me and I will just use the oem cooler in the interim, thanks again for the help!

Yeah me too, though Corsair's customer service is nothing short of awesome.
