Thunderbird links no longer work.

Having googled the problem. i am told to go to settings

Tools > Options
Switch to Advanced > General and click on Config Editor here.

I then have to jump though lots of hoops

network.protocol-handler.external-default
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https
network.protocol-handler.warn-external.ftp

Even after all this I can't open the links. I am forced to right click and copy link and paste in a browser. Why do they do these things?

Is this a new issue? Are you using the latest version of Thunderbird?
