[SOLVED] Thunderbolt 4 Support

I know that Intel announced thunderbolt 4. Now that brings up the question whether or not z490 motherboards that will support Intel Rocket lake cpu's, that already have thunderbolt 3, if they will be forward compatible with thunderbolt 4. In a nutshell, will z490 MB's using a Rocket lake CPU support thunderbolt 3 or 4?

as far as I know, thunderbolt controller is not on the cpu. so it would be depend on the motherboard

That is what I figured. However, z490 motherboards will be pcie 4.0 ready with a bios update. Will that same update make it thunderbolt 4 ready?

Don't think so. it a new controller for thunderbolt 4.
for the pcie 4.0 the motherboard chipset have to support it.
