I'm looking at getting the Geforce TI4600. What would you suggest as a good type? I'm looking at Gainward and Leadtek, but can't understand why they cost so much more than PNY. Is it just quality over crap?

Actually, there's not that much difference in card quality. A big part of it is the features and bundle. For example, Asus and Gainward have VIVO (Video In & Video Out) capabilities on some of their cards.

Allows you to output to a TV (or any other NTSC/PAL device), and input from a VCR (or any other NTSC/PAL device).

Go for the cheapest, there is no difference in performance with these cards. Xtasy is widely available and has vivo. No games, though. One thing about the Xtasy card is that it may not fit an epox motherboard.

Quality is better than name brand, even regarding beloved AMD.

That's been fixed, it was the Epox KT266a and the Visiontek Ti4600. One of Epox's resistors was poorly placed, and a resistor on the Ti4600 hit it and killed the card when you installed it. Visiontek switched to lower-profile resistors to solve the problem.
