Tigerdirect or Newegg

I was wondering which one was better for the prices and performance.
I know that these 2 companies has their pros and cons, but I was wondering what the community thought about both of them.

I personally never bought from either of them, I live in Canada, so Im guessing Newegg has to ship the products to me and Tigerdirect I can easily drive their anytime.

I am suppose to be building my own computer, mainly for high quality gaming. And I was wondering which company I should buy from that has good prices and good quality and performance, I don't want to buy from both Newegg and Tigerdirect, its either/or.

Generally newegg is about as easy a company to deal with as exists. Fast shipping and no hassle refunds/replacements if needed. Generally a bit cheaper as well. To be fair I have ordered from Tiger on occasion as well. I go where ever is cheaper at the time.

Depends were you live!
Newegg.ca needs to add combo deals like the U.S. site has.
They simply aren't offered.
Which is ridiculous imo.
I've used Newegg.ca maybe 3 times for Shellshockers.
NCIX/BestDirect.ca is King in Canada.
Occasionally Tigerdirect.ca will have an item cheaper then Newegg.ca and NCIX.
It's rare though and Tigerdirect.ca's selection isn't the greatest.

I've ordered from both and I go with Newegg all the time now even if the prices tend to be slightly higher. I always get what I ordered quite fast from Newegg they are reliable and have never had a fuss when returning DOA hardware.

Tiger on the other hand tends to have a slower processing orders, their lower prices tend to be from mail in rebates and that rebate company they go through is actually owned by them and has a terrible history. This is actually a direct quote from someone who worked at Tiger Direct

the concept was that if the customer complains you send them out the check to make them happy. But if they don't complain, they totally forget about it, that is the concept of these rebates. People forget that they sent them out.

Overall Newegg is certainly the more dependable and respectable company.

Newegg tends to get stuff to me quicker primarily because they have a distribution center in California. This is actually a negative because then I have to pay sales tax.

My preference goes to tigerdirect (no sales tax). Newegg tends to have better selection, however. Never had a problem with either of them though.

A little something that irked me about TG. I ordered a Microsoft mouse from them several years back. The package was obviously opened ( plastic heat shrunk material around mouse was physically torn/ripped open ). I contacted them about the open boxed item and got blown off. New means new! I did order something from them recently, though out of particular need, but will go back to NOT ordering from these people because the situation was never resolved. I have had ZERO problems with newegg...... other than getting packages "semi wrapped" in god awful brown paper instead of bubble wrap and foam peanuts and boxes inside of boxes.....that's my only gripe. Both places have excellent shipping times.

I go always check Newegg and Amazon, then TigerDirect. Tiger has good prices, no sales tax (since they're in Oregon, I believe), and fast shipping, but they lack inventory, imo. It's good, but not nearly the same product quantity as the other 2.

Newegg has great prices and daily deals, quick shipping, great customer service (phone, not web chat), but suffers from that pesky sales tax... oh welll... can't win 'em all!

Also, Newegg is always my first stop due to the great customer reviews!

Newegg only has tax in States they have warehouses. California and New Jersey are the 2 I know of. I live in Georgia and have never paid sales tax from the egg.

This is eggsactly why I stopped dealing with newegg, almost 10 years ago now. I'm strictly newegg and Amazon myself.

Ah, man, did I get screwed! Ha! Thanks for the clarification.

Also, for those that live near a Fry's (CA and TX, I believe), you get the tax, but they will price match with Newegg, Amazon, Tiger, etc, and they have a nice selection.

If you live in Canada, a combination of Newegg.ca and NCIX.com will usually get you the best deals. Newegg tends to have better everyday prices, and good sales once in a while. NCIX has better weekly sales. Don't even bother with Tigerdirect.

newegg - Tiger Direct has a history of shipping wrong parts, then not taking them back ....even when it's their fault.

newegg orders typically arrive in 1-2 days in CT from the NJ warehouse, but with their standard shipping at 3 days even if it took the full shipping time that's still pretty good nationwide

I am an Air Force cyber operator serving overseas. I decided to buy an Asus VE278Q 27" Monitor and Tigerdirect had it cheaper than NewEgg. After working with the chat and email functions on the site I was told to call a rep to process my order. I called the rep, while rude and impatient, he was very insistent that I get the insurance. I told him my concern with product insurances and living overseas. Most time I have to pay absorbent shipping fees if I am covered at all. He said that it had international coverage and that I wouldn't have to pay shipping if something were to go wrong. So I paid it. The monitor got here and had dead pixels right out of the box. I emailed Tiger direct. They told me to ship it back and that they would be charging my card the cost of a new Monitor, $300.00, until the defective one arrived. You have to love a ransom. They also said that if I emailed them a copy of the postage I would be reimbursed. Ok. That was rep number one and nothing was done. I used the chat function and explained my issue. The rep said to email them the postage receipt and they would take care of it, still no response. Finally, I went back to email and got the same run around with no action. I decided to call from overseas and inquire about it. I was hung up on three times! The second rep I talked to just loudly and bluntly yawned three times told me “wait a second” twice and then hung up on me. Are they really monitoring these calls for quality service!? Finally, I decided to speak with a sale rep instead of a customer service rep. This guy got an attitude and told me that what they were doing was a onetime exception, even though I was guaranteed otherwise, and that I would just have to wait. He then put me on hold so he could take another call and informed me that he would see that I got reimburse. Talk about making me feel like I am interrupting his job. Needless to say, my attempt at TigerDirect was a fail and I will be going back to Newegg and Amazon where they care about customer service.
