Question Time for a new GPU! 2070S is it?

Alright, specs on sig.

My 980 non it, although still rock solid and 60fps on so far anything @ 1080p needs to retire, cause ive this cool azz 144hz monitor and theres clearly a difference from 60+.

anyways, enough chit chat,

im not going for 1440p for at very least 5 years, and right now im looking towards that new 2070S, almost bought a 2080 before but the pricing here is egregious.

lastly, considering im not filthy rich, and that this new 2070S is slightly better than 1080ti, so.... right pick would you say?

Yes I'd say a good choice, although not sure about the 4770K hindering the 2070S in some titles maybe the more CPU-bound ones? Although the OC @4.4 might help a bit with that.

Also how old is TX650? If same age as CPU/MOBO maybe changing that for some new PSU wouldn't be a bad idea?

i'm pretty much in the same boat as you. . Still using one of the two 980's I bought for SLI as the other died. 2070 S or 2080 (depending on price) would be the obvious upgrade choice going from a 980 for 1440p.

Even if it's not enough to run future games at full 1440p I have no doubts it will run them at 2560 x 1080 or even 2560 x 1440 just fine. Either way it would be a massive upgrade from the decrepit 980.

I'm going for the 2070 S for my upcoming build, unless I get a good deal on a 2080. I predict this should serve me well for a minimum of 5 years. Though I have a 3440x1440p monitor, I don't typically play at full resolution anyway, primarily because most games I play lack Ui scaling. But even the 980 can handle full 1440p with quite a few games at a stable 60fps. I'm thinking the 2070 S should make light work of most games I play.

oh, that little TX mofo has like.. uh... wow, 10 years :)

though.... idk, ive checked it on hwmonitor and the rails are working tightly under load, 12v stays at 12.056 the 3.3v stays at 3.336 neatly and +5 is god awefully perfect 5.000v

ofc thats probably just me lying to myself that a new psu wouldnt be recommended.
