Time for an upgrade?

Hello everyone!

As of right now my computer is about 3/4 years old, I never made a single modification until this year where I added an SSD.

I have been thinking about making an upgrade when it comes to CPU and RAM (including the Mobo obviously, given that now these days the one I have is pretty much useless with newer cpus) BUT I'd like recommendations both on AMD and Intel for possible alternatives to upgrade my PC.
My budget is 600 U$D, my PC is basically for Gaming, Recording, Video Editing and Graphic Design.

The bmockeg recommendation falls within your budget and is correct.

However, I would say that unless you want to immediately change your GPU to a GTX 1070 Ti or higher the ryzen 7 2700x is excessive and I'd take ryzen 5 2600x rather cheaper.

Regarding Intel, the election seems good to me. If it were only a game with the gtx 970, the I5-8400 would suffice, but in video editing it would not be up to the task. And the price difference with i5-8600k is small so I would surely go for I7-8700 as he saids.

Hmmm would you say that now these days the GTX 970 is not up to the task?

A 970 is fine, he was just saying that the CPU will be overkill for a 970, however the CPU will last even till you are ready to upgrade the GPU.

Oh ok then! A small question if you don´t mind me asking, my PSU as you may have seen, is a 750W +80 Bronce... Would you suggest moving to a smaller wattage... Say 550W but +80 Gold?
