This is my current PC:
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit
Processor: Intel Pentium G3258 @ 4.0GHz w/stock cooler
RAM: 8 GB (2x4GB)
Video Card: AMD HD 6770 1GB GDDR5
Hard Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm 64mb cache
Monitor: 1680x1050

I plan to upgrade my GPU first then CPU.

I am choosing between GTX 960 or AMD R9 380 (both 4 gig's)

For CPU Im thinking of buying i5 4690k, but skylake is out and I was wondering should I save more money for Skylake Mobo and CPU and DDR4 ram ?

Your gpu upgrade first is likely reasonable.
A 6770 is a minimal capability card.
GTX960 and R9-380 will be comparable in price/performance.
What is your psu? A R9-380 will need 550w, a GTX960 will run on 430w.

The motherboard you are using for the G3258 will support a very strong cpu upgrade.
What exactly is your motherboard?

On a new build, I recommend Skylake.
But for an upgrade, with the processors available to you, I do not.

One upgrade I highly recommend is a ssd.

I will never again build without a ssd for the "C" drive. It makes everything you do much quicker.
120gb is minimum, it will hold the os and a handful of games. If you can go 240gb, better.

Samsung EVO is a good choice.
Intel 730 is OK too.
