y does the windows vista basic stop the drivers for my nvidia graphics card to stop? code 31 windows cannot load drivers !!!!!!!

Then re-install driver for you card...

tried to do it online and my AVG says a virus is attached and deletes the installation. dont have disk it came with the computer.

Well, basically you can download it manually on the Nvidia website, choose the right card and click the download button:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

AVG, right? that anti virus often do wrong diagnostic and identification something as a virus... DIsabled it, install driver and enable it again later...

got it fixed...problem solution offered by windows solution said to update Yahoo toolbar..... since there was a conflict with the toolbar ,.... I disabled it and i now can browse with the windows explorer and firefox..... for some reason the toolbar was in direct conflict with the windows vista basic explorer operation......i am online nowwwwwww.
