Hello everyone, i had bought this CPU a couple of years ago and i never overclocked it mainly cause i was afraid of frying the chip, even if you really have to try in order to mess it up. Anyway, i'll be upgrading my PC in a few weeks so might as well try to OC it, maybe i can get a Z170 with an unlocked CPU so i can get some extra performance on my new build.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450
MOBO: Asus P5Q Deluxe
Memory: Super-Talent DDR2 4x2GB 399.9MHz
GPU: Asus GTX 650 Ti 1GB
CPU Cooler: Scythe Mugen 4
PSU: Soly Tech SL-8500BTX 500W (Yes i know it's bad)

I have seen some tutorials on how to OC on modern MOBOs and it seemed easy enough. When i accessed my BIOS i got really confused by the settings on the Overclocking menu as they where a lot different. Any tips will be appreciated, thanks. :)

Solution
Just look up Core 2 Quad overclocking guides.
Easiest to start with would be setting the FSB to 400, memory synchronous and all voltages either to "normal" or manually set to the default values.
That is something almost all of the FSB333 45nm Core 2 could do.
