By design it 15 SMX units with one disabled that known, there is still no comfimation on specs yet not until tomorrow. I am more interested in the Single Precision performance because Tesla is a waste in that regard

Well the Titan and 690 can have the same price if they are about as fast. Actually the Titan can be a little bit more expensive, because it has the advantage of having just one GPU core. Allso it is much easier and cheaper to produce two 104 cores than one 110 core, so Titan will stay single price leader for a long time. One of the main reasons for AMD to stay smaller cores and use more of them.
Nvidia has allready a market for Tesla GPU's so it is possible to them to introduce one "halo item" for consumer market based on that design.
They will make better profit with 680 cards and smaller than Titan.

The graph seems fake (an estimation at best). The markers for 1 gtx 690 and 1, 2 titans are equally divided among the bars. Although I do not have a 690 in my possession, the 690s (99% sure) and the titans (95% sure) that they do not scale 100% and vary title to title, which is what those markers indicate. Here are some BF3 benchmarks showing 1, 2, and 3 gtx 680s in sli:

at 1920x1200 you see a 77% increase from 1 to 2 (roughly a 690) and a 4% increase from 2 to 3 680s. I can't imagine adding a fourth (~2 690s) would add any more significant fps.

I would have loved to see a comparison to 2 7970's in CF mode and a 7990. Perhaps in the near future Tom's?

I know but I'm trying to dream here. Lets wait and see what the pricing is going to be like. Also true that HD7970 in CF are better p/p wise. So I'm with you on the fact that if it can be shown to perform at the same rate as the CF 7970 then it will suck to be sold for $1000+.

Hey... jst gimme a TITAN and I'll review it out just for you.And it would be a completely unbiased review, mark my words. 😛

That's true. But it's really the least they could do on such a monstrously expensive card. Plus it could be good for business; more people mucking about with voltages, more people suddenly needing to buy a new graphics card. 😀

I'll take another wild swing at it ...

For whatever reason, during the testing/binning the K20X chip would not "take" some necessary HPC chip logic or geometry, and was useless as a Tesla. Instead of trashing it, they laser'ed off a few of those 7.1 billion transistors, did a little chip voodoo magic, loaded up some GeForce drivers, and ...

Bingo! A $1,000.00 desktop gaming card from what otherwise would have been trash.

Titan is pure profit simply because of yields and binning.

I'm not a expert so please don't blast me through the window if i'm wrong but won't 2 cards require a lot more watt, adding up your electric bill for those 3 years, causing you to pay more in the long run? also won't the case be a lot hotter with 2 cards in it?

of course not especially when considering DP where Nvidia is suppose to annihilate

And I thought I was the only one not impressed with the performance and price they're charging for the card.

I know but you also want something that will last 3-4 years and stretch it to five if you grab a 3rd one. So in the long ran you are saving money.

I sense strong objective reasoning in this one.

I'd say this one effort by Nvidia is a lot more like an experiment, trying a different architecture in parallel with what they are already developing. Putting aside any personal feelings towards the brands, I believe this one has zero relation to the competition between them.

^ I agree, all they are doing is introducing a new price bracket with cards like 690 and this one which have no competition from any $500 cards and hence the price premium. No matter what price tag they slam, enthusiasts will still buy those cards.
