Well I just would like for thoes who own or have played oblivion to give me a up or down vote on buying this game.

I got a decent rig see sig, I can play FEAR 800x600 57-60 average fps with graphics up most of the way (The setting below the absolute max is where I run it). Im not too picky on eye candy and 1900x1200 res so Ill still get it even if it means not having the best graphics.

Im really just looking for a game that is interesting and can kill a lot of time. I got Civ IV for this but after 4 or so games I became board and havent played it much after that, and I dont wanna make the same mistake with this game.

I tried to make this a poll but I kept getting this posting error so just post yes or no
thanks

got the poll up before anyone posted

Bought it yesterday and couldn't stop playing last night. The graphics, physics, fighting, everything. . . so amazing. And I'm not even an RPG kinda guy.

FYI, at Best Buy all they had was the DVD version of the game. Not sure about anywhere else.

In my opinion, buy it. Keep in mind, however, one of the reasons I love it is that it looks so good. It doesn't look like you'll be able to run at a high resolution, but from your post you don't seem to be too concerned with that.

Hope this is helpful.

Well, I didn't post the first time I saw this, as I had the game with me, but hadn't been able to play it yet. (I was in class)

I must say, it is AWESOME. It's not something you'll regret. It simply runs amazing, well enough that you have to try it to understand. Of course, there are a few quirks/bugs that if you're unaware of them, can kill performance. In other words, if it's running slowly on your machine, it's not becasue your machine is too weak; it's because there's a hiccup in there somewhere.

Love it so far. A few little quirky things have popped up, but all in all, much more stable than Morrowind. Played eight hours straight when I got it.
My rig's an X2 3800+ with a 6600 GT (128mb). The cpu more than meets the minimum, but my video card is slightly below the "recommended" stats. Doesn't matter. I allowed the game to install with graphics settings at the "medium" level, which is what it wanted to do with this setup. Still looks amazing.
Of course, I haven't seen what it looks like on a 7800 series, or ATI 1800 or 1900 platform. I MIGHT upgrade to a 7800 GS or something like that in a few weeks -- but the gameplay is fine. At the medium setting everything looks great, gameplay is smooth and stutter-free ... now if only all the people weren't so darn "fugly."

From all the reports this game runs smoothly at 25-35 FPS. This is not a first person shooter where you need 75 FPS all the time.

If you can't run with all the eye candy on just wait untill you upgrade to a more powerful DX10 card and by that time an expansion will be out for it so you can play it again with all the eye candy on.

I have all settings MAX (x1800xl) and worst case I get is dropping down to about 21FPS, but I don't notice it. Averge FPS 24-32 and it feels smooth.

Morrowind had a problem with some towns getting laggy. It was generally believed that this had to do with the number of places you had visisted, the number of items you had carried or dropped in a town and the number of quests you may have started in the vicinity. When I upgraded to a dual core CPU, I never noticed this lag again. I don't expect it to reapear in Oblivion.

The problem with Morrowind is the game engine has no occlusion.

The game engine draws things that you can not see like a building behind you and thats why the game needed a fairly powerful system at the time it came out.

Oblivions engine has occlusion so your system does not have to waste power drawing things you cannot see.
