to find something installing in the background

whenever i try to download or install something on my toshiba windows 10 laptop..or close it out..It alway says...: Cant shut down bcuz installation still running ...but cant find what or where it is or what it is??? or i try to install something or update something a note will say..Please close the installation you are currently running to proceed with your installation..Any suggestions how i can find and close what is currently installing in the background?? Thank you any help is appreciated!!

First I would say, - Scan your computer with Anti Virus- Run CCleaner or Diskclean up utility. If it still continues Type services.msc in start menu and press enter. Scroll down to Windows Installer and double click on it and press the stop button. Hopefully that it. You really need to make sure its not a virus or malware so don't skip a step because it might be something worse that say....Power ISO mounted image installing
