Hello there,
I am in quite a pickle here. I plan to get rx 580(4gb/8gb still dunno which to buy) and i5 7400 and after 5-6 years (even more if rig is better "future proofed") gonna get i7700k+gtx1080ti maybe but I don't know what is better to go cheap on mobo get h110m now and later buy z270, or get z270 now, also ram with higher speed(2666-3000mhz) cuz it's know that it improves fps ingame(source: digitalfoundry) and just buy gpu+cpu later on. To last longer I was planing to get rx 580 8gb, but I don't know will even gpu be good enough to process all that in years to come, note that in some AA+ titles like GTA V, Shadow of Mordor it exceedes 4GB or it's just useless extra ram for 1080p gaming. I will appreciate any suggestions. Have in mind I live in country where there isn't much diversity in components I can choose from. Many will say why don't you go ryzen, but it's still a bit expensive here and there are some problems with mobos.

Solution
the main differences between those two mainboards is the ability of overclock a cpu

other than that, iirc, is a m.2 slot

for 5 years, i think you will be able to use the same cpus the z can on the h110

ram, usually most people will be happy with 16gbs for the next 3 years i think, you can still do alot with 8gbs so the two slots on most h110 mainboard supporting on most models two 16gbs of ram, is just fine
5+ years from now, the i7-7700k will likely be irrelevant with 6-8 cores CPUs being mainstream. By that time, you will likely also want to upgrade to a CPU which supports PCIe 4.0, DDR5 and whatever other updated IOs that may be available.

I don't waste money on "futureproofing" because by the time I want to upgrade one thing in my PC, I'm usually not far away from wanting to upgrade just about everything else and I'm better off just starting with a clean slate that isn't hampered by an obsolete platform.

then 4 gbs is fine, 8 gbs would be nicer, but 4 gbs will do it well, especially if you plan to go for 1080p or 1440p only

4k is not enough at the moment on that resolution, well that gpu can't do 4k well either 😀

if you can buy 8 gbs one, do it, if not the 4 gbs one is fine
