Have any of you guys tried the latest Radeon 20.2.2 drivers? They should supposedly fix a lot of the black-screen issues. Would be interesting to hear if you have any luck with them.

I downloaded this driver and still get black screens intermittently. Also micro stutter and frame rate drops.
I have just abandoned the 5700XT to move to a 2070 Super which should arrive tomorrow.

I have and they fixed all problems for me. I'm not even running with a 'driver only' install now, but using Radeon Settings as intended!

Over on the AMD Reddit lots of guys are reporting the same or similar results. Most of the problem cases being discussed there seem to be related to other issues and frequently fixed by doing a DDU re-install. That kind of makes sense if someone was trying a lot of 'fixes' before and left their system in a sorry state for it.

Based on the release notes they're still working some issues but it appears AMD turned the corner with this stability enhancement release. I know I am extremely happy now!

Thanks both for your feedback. I saw your post in the other thread @drea.drechsler right after writing here and its good to see that you had some good results. To bad it did not fix it for @greigm78. What cards exactly are you running?

... What cards exactly are you running?

My card is kind of a special case... I'm running a PowerColor 5700 Red Dragon I flashed to a 5700XT Red Dragon. Stock for the 5700XT is 1905Mhz boost clock while stock for a 5700 is 1750Mhz boost. Right now I'm running it at 1954Mhz boost, undervolted to 1090mV. It will do 2005Mhz but voltage has to be around 1200mV; so that's Red Devil territory with it's massive heatsink and three large, quiet fans. I'm good at 1954Mhz!

I really wasn't all that concerned about the problems I was having with the older drivers since I flashed a lower binned chip to XT; I pretty much figured it came with the territory in fact. But now, with the 20.2.2 driver, I'm very pleased. Rock steady, mildly OC'd on top of the flashed OC from 5700 stock levels, and undervolted on top of all that.

Simply incredible value!

Also... there will always be unhappy campers for a variety of reasons. But if you go check the Reddit thread you'll find thousands of comments with literally hundreds of people who're finding relief with the new drivers. Lots of hate (still) for the Radeon Settings new UI though. Can't help that, just get used to it.

I have had my 5700xt for about two weeks now, I switched from a 1660ti. I have used the 19.10.2 driver, because I was told it was the most stable driver. The software wasn't good though, so I ditched it and went driver only. I never got any black screens or crashes though. Over the weekend I installed the newest driver and software. Its been good so far.

Sweet! "Free" performance upgrade. :)

I did this same thing years ago with the AMD 9800 128mb. Ordered a 9700 Pro, was then told there were none in stock & was asked if I'd mind a new stock 9800 instead. Hell no I didn't mind! Flashed it with a Bios from a 9800 Pro a month later and was tickled pink with myself...
