I currently run:

Ryzen3600x
16GB DDR4 3000mhz
Vega 56 Red Dragon
RMX 750 PSU
1.5TB between two SSD’s

Honestly the rig still runs okay. It does drop frames randomly in 2042 (battlefield). My question is would you upgrade CPU, GPU, or new build. Thanks for any input.

I play at 1080p resolution.

A vega 56 is pretty slow at this point. A 6750 XT, 6800, 7700 XT would be a massive upgrade without breaking the bank. A 5800X3D would be the best you could get for a CPU or a 5700X3D if those are not available. 2x16GB CL14-16 3600-3800 kit of RAM would be a nice density and speed upgrade as well. What is the exact motherboard you are on? Are you close to a microcenter?

Yes I live near a Microcenter. Currently the board is Asrock B450 fatality (Mitx). I’d like to keep it cheap. If the 3600x is still viable and a gpu upgrade would be worth it I would prefer that route Instead of a new build.

The 3600x is semi-viable, but it depends on FPS targets in what games at 1080p. a 7700 XT or better from AMD or a 4070 from Nvidia would be a massive upgrade.

So, micro center near me has some power color RX 7600 fighter for 269$. Also planning on upgrading ram to 32GB. It’s on sale for 50$ for dual channel 2x16 sticks. Should I be worried about the speed or is 3-3200mhz acceptable?

You want CL 16 or less 3200mt/s or 3600 mt/s RAM. The lower the first word (CL) and the higher the speed (up to 3600mt/s) the better your CPU will perform. Preferably, you would want a CL16 3600 mt/s RAM kit.

The RX 7600 would be about 40% faster than the vega 56 while running much cooler and efficiently, however, that is not exactly a huge performance increase for the money. A 7700 XT would be about twice as fast as that vega 56 card while also being more efficient and cool. I highly recommend getting a 7700 XT or an equivalent card performance wise.
