To wait for 7xxx series or just go with 2 x 69xx? What do you think?

Hey guys I was just wondering what a general opinion would be for a high end gaming rig.

My motherboard has PCI-e 3.0 slots, and I want to know should I crossfire 2 69xx 2gb cards...I mean is it worth the wait for a 7xxx series seeing as there still isn't really a release date?

Or is it worth the performance boost now with games like BF3, Metro 2033, etc.

Any opinions including SLI rigs are welcome, and thank you all in advance

Pci-e 3.0 complaint card. Will that be the new marketing scheme to sell the newer cards just like dx 11 was with the current and 5xx series? Pci-e 3.0 no speed increase just almost no overhead and reduce latency. Now how will a gpu design make the difference when its the controller and software doing it? If you stuck a older card in there youll suppose to receive the same benefits right?

I noticed they say a increase in the stream processors but on what bus? 256k no thank How your going to feed all those processors on that bandwidth. Gpus is all about bandwidth and the more threads it can run the happier.

How good do you need to be?

The BF3 recommended specs for Graphics Card: DirectX 11 compatible with 1024 MB RAM (NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 or ATI RADEON 6950)

My preference is to use a great single card where it will do the job.

Unless you are looking at triple monitor gaming, I do not see the need for dual cards. just my opinion.
A 6970 should be fine.
Perhaps even a GTX580.

Current cards do not slow down with pcie2.0, so I see little prospect of advantage to the upcoming 28nm parts on that score.
If history is a guide, a launch of new high end cards, stronger than any predecessor will be acompanied by very high prices.

From what we think we know about the 7 series so far, there won't be a performance increase until you get the highest cards. The 78xx are identical to the 69xx cards, but with power numbers. If the 79xx cards are out of your budget, just get the 69xx cards now.

I noticed they say a increase in the stream processors but on what bus? 256k

Huh? I think I know what you meant, and if you did your wrong there too.
