To which CPU is the Xeon E5420 comparable to?

Hi !

so this guy on a ebay website has a E5420 for sale but this guy says its comparable to a Q9300.
Is this true?
if not to what cpu is it comparable to of the socket 775/771 series?, since i don't know anything of the old xeon serie and only the more mainstream core 2 Duo and Quad.

It is pretty similar to a Core 2 Quad 9300 except it has a lower TDP and twice the cache (12MB). Both are Penryn core and have the same frequency (2.5Ghz) and 4 cores.
