our family enjoys a couple of games, classic bomber man (multiplayer), just dance (kinect), and kinect sports

My family always liked playing Mario Party unlocking all of the hidden games and competing for the stars. Mario Kart was fun too until it got a little too competitive...

Half the things on the WII.
And not just for the kids either. WII bowling (sports?) was enjoyed as much by the 6 year olds in the morning as the drunk men the evening before.
But karts, smash bros, (mario) party.

PC is harder though, can you play awesomenauts on split screen? Never tried.

And I don't suppose fibbage comes with an age rating

i have played Quake with my family. it was so enjoying, it has great music and challenging maps, its guns were also very impressive. each of my family members had a laptop and we were playing in LAN, i have liked very much those times :)

I think the best friendly game is Wii U's Super Smash Bros. When i and my friends play together, we always sit around together in one room and we play for the whole day. Love every moment of win and lose with my friends.

My dad and I use to play Spy Hunter on the NES back in the day. We would take turns to see who could get the farthest. He picked up a strategy guide for it and didn't tell. He was destroying me for about a week before he told me he got the book. lol

We love to play Mario and Sonic London Olympics 2014 on the WII U. There seems to be events for everybody. The kids like the fantasy events while the adults like the 'traditional' olympic events.

A game that not too many people were aware of for the PS3 called Buzz Quiz Word. It is a multiple choice trivia game that can be played with up to 8 people in the same room. Different maturity settings depending on the audience.

Minecraft is awesome family game but I have the computer version and I wanted to play split-screen with my sons with my single account.
Last month I found a way to do it! I launch my game with Forge once, then I change my display name in the launcher_profiles.json file and launch it so I have two clients running. We can play on a local server all together.

For controls I setup this mod to use gamepads: http://retro-hack.blogspot.ca/p/minecraft-joypad-mod.html

Well when my family has get-togethers we play a game called HOUSIE. its kind of a bingo but with random numbers on a ticket and certain conditions get you a reward. The best part is each family gets random gifts which make the rewards even more fun to open later on.
Happy Holidays to all !!

Before my dad passed away we used to play a game on the commodore called mystery at marple manor and you had to leave the room for one player to make their move, it was similar to clue. I also used to play secret of mana on the super nintendo during high school, the only multiplayer RPG console game I knew of at the time

Carcasonne! What family doesn't like sitting around and playing a board game...? And this is one of the best out there! Multi-format and timeless. What a classic!

and who can forget rock band 😀

fun for everyone and no matter how bad you sucked, there was a game mode just for you!! i actually looking forward to the new version coming out. my family loves it still and looks forward to whatever is new with it.

My family's favorites include Super Bomberman 2, BattleTanx, and the original Super Smash Bros, but lately Nintendo Land has been a huge hit.

Mario Kart on Super Nintendo was the blast back when i was young , and btw , still playing it with my brother and father :). Perfect game for a family game.

For me, I spent lots of family gatherings playing the different Worms game, and also Mario kart and Mario party. Another that I played so many hours with my cousins was 007 Nightfire for the Gamecube.

I don't have much experience with playing games with kids. I do however read up about different games through online & magazines, such as PC Gamer & Maximum PC.

I would suggest PC games such as, Lego LOTR, Back To The Future, The SIMS, Peggle (very fun), and Lego Star Wars.

On the console side, anything Mario related are always fun & popular, Angry Birds, Sonic related games, maybe Rayman too.

Board games, Stratego, Uno, Jenga, Clue and for the smarter (maybe older bunch), RISK (any variety) 😀
