LoL nice catch! I do have a Rampage Formula for my old rig (C2D E8500 and HD 4870). I never use the Supreme FX II in my old rig because I already had a Sound Blaster XFI Extreme Music so I figure I might wanna put it in this rig to see how it works... Unfortunately I can't manage to get it to work since I cant install driver for it so I just leave it in there for now...

* :) okay now i see...the truth is, the audio chip was not installed on the board but on a daughter card like the supreme fx + FX X-fi cards. The only difference is the app layer music emulation and tweaking. Otherwise its just the same as an ALC chip but a *lil* better.

** for that daughter card to work, you'll need the black pci e x1 slot found on the rampage extreme/formula x48, maximus, striker(+II) formula boards. so yeah you're out of options trying to run that card in your new rig.

me still running my RE x48 - just last nite i got BF3 LE to run and man! it is awesome, set my settings to ultra - funny thing is i don't notice any choppiness. :/ is that good ?

Wait, you actually get it to work? I got a PCI-E x4 slot on the Maximus IV Extreme, and it is compatible with any PCI-E x1 card up to PCI-E x4 card. The only thing that prevents me from using is that the driver that came with it on the CD cannot be installed on Windows 7. Every time I tried to install it gave me an error code Your OS is not supported and automatically aborted all installation process.

Regarding BF3, what is your video card? In order to run it on Ultra ( 1920-1200 res ) and 4x MSAA and highest ambient occlusion, you need a pretty beefy video card. GTX 580 at the very least for a single card set up since it will be choppy when you get to the action parts where things got blown up and flames and tanks and smokes and rockets flying left and right.

:? actually i was trying to say that the black PCI-e x1 slot specifically designed to handle that supreme card. in fact if you go into your rampage formula's bios you'll notice there's an option to enable/disable the riser card. so in short, no you can't get it to work on any other board ,those that came after maximus III formula.

even if you manage to get the diver running off of asus's FTP site - you wont get audio.

http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?607-R2E-Supreme-FX-X-FI-Soundcard-to-use-in-R3E-mobo better answer.

but you can try this on your ALC chip mobo's - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?226020-Solution-SupremeFX-X-Fi-Software. and a lil something for all you other folks :)

system is in member conifg - rig 1

My latest build! Somewhat of a big upgrade since my previous build back on page 7.

What's inside:
- Intel Core i5-2500K
- ASRock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3
- G.SKILL Ripjaws X DDR3 1600
- XFX Pro Series 850w
- Samsung Spinpoint 500GB HDD
- ASUS HD 4850 (700/1125)
- Fractical Design Arc Midi

What's coming soon:
- SSD
- Couple fans
- Possibly 7950s in Crossfire! :)

* I have yet to do any overclocking as I don't see any need to (as of yet); all of that will be done once I get a pair of cards that'll require me to bump of the speed of the processor/ram. Relocated the rear stock case fan to the front so I now have two 140mm intake fans. Umm... Slight overclock on the video card (extra old I know haha). Uhh... I think that's about it for now. More pics later when I get those cards!!!

well the specs other than in my signature are the case which is storm sniper. and ya, i know the cable management is horendous. the sad thing is that was the best i could do while building it, but it was my first. i have a haf x in my garage that i will be moving everything into as soon as i get the rest of the parts for a watercooling loop. hopefully i can do better with that. i agree about the rev. i hope their next album is still good considering he wrote 90% of the songs.
