It's been a long time since I was into shooters. The last one I sunk any significant time into was ... Quake 2. Deathmatches were a blast. Sadly, my reflexes aren't what they were and I'm now a poor player instead of a mediocre one.

i like very much the CS:GO. played a lot the 1.6 with my friends and relatives. so, i cant leave this game so easy.

What's your favorite online shooter?
My favourite shooter would have to be Gunscape! I fell in love with the simplistic graphics, combat style and the small community. Did I mention it was free?

Is it a co-op or versus?
You can play both of these game modes in Gunscape, which is part of the reason why I love it so much. There is so much to do in this game. Heck, you can even play the DOOM storyline in the campaign mode!

Have a favorite story to tell?
I used to play with this guy who had particularly bad internet, and his ping could suddenly skyrocket to well over 1000 without warning. During these moments of extreme lag, he would become and unstoppable god that obliterated anybody in his path! I only recently recovered from the nightmares he caused...

I hope you enjoyed reading my post!
Cheers, Jonty!

My favourite online shooter is Left4Dead2. I've had so much fun playing the game for hours on end. I remember it being the first online game I had on Steam. It had Co-op as well as versus modes, out of which I especially like the Versus as it gave me the actual gameplay for a being a zombie. Pulling players down railings, charging them down the roofs of skyscrapers, punching them in the face as a tank, it was insanely addictive. Custom maps, modes and awesome playerbase made it really enjoyable. I do wish they would make a third one already.

The one that will probably stick in my mind the most is Killzone on PS2, it was my first online shooter, I finally got DSL so I bought the network adapter and from there it grew into a love!

Current favorite is probably Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, even though it feels a bit buggy at times.

Favorite of all time is a toss-up between Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2, specifically the Forgotten Hope 1 & 2 modifications respectively. An amazing effort went into those mods and completely changed the games' look and feel as well as extended each game's replayability value by almost a decade each. I still have BF2 with FH2 installed just for that occasional nostalgia trip. The FH2 mod is still in active development...
