Already surpass Anandtech level by having models for the products.

step it up Toms! the gift guide has a long standing tradition of cute pictures with a broad range of products. All I am seeing here are some choice high end products (some of which are not even the best ones for the money), and some less than stellar photography.
I mean really, who chose that green dress? I dont mean to be shallow, but she is a beautiful girl... the green dress with red hair just looks terrible. Also, way too much contrast. Every line and wrinkly on their faces stands out really badly. Lastly, they dont look like they are having any fun!

[citation][nom]LuckyDucky7[/nom]I don't get it.Why are some things suggested in this guide mostly the worst value you could get for that sum of cash? [/citation]

Your point is?
Don't like these "special holiday articles" then why are you here?

Toms features brilliant articles. They're well written and you can tell that the editors put a lot effort into them.

This article however is insulting. Well, not the article itself, but the picture choice is. Tom, do you really think you need to catch our attention with (badly photoshopped) girls? Do you think, we are all stereotypic nerds? Techie = male = loves looking at girls?

But, looking at the comments, you are probably right. Sad thing.

You don't know that. And it's their job to smile and pose

+1 for the blonde and +2 for the brunette

The MSI motherboard looks nice, but I am not planning on a high end AMD rig this time :??: . Kinda funny there is not model for the PNY RAM. The SSDs and HD6950 are already on my wishlist. Where did you find the RV03 without the gold accents?

Ivy-bridge is around the corner, but is it ready for the holiday shopping season? Last year's list had to many items scheduled for post-holiday releases.

[citation][nom]JonnyDough[/nom]If I want softcore porn I'll look at your sister on Facebook. As for hardware, I like my websites to be informative and not have sensationalist headlines. That's why I've been spending more time at Anandtech and ArsTechnica, as I am sure many other old school readers have as well. Which is another reason that the comments here on Tom's have also gone down hill.[/citation]

Did your parents potty train you by the gunpoint? Lighten up man. There's nothing wrong with having a little fun every once in a while.

Anyone who thinks it's rude to scrutinize models needs to understand that their job is to look...perfect. If you would building something and didn't fit the pieces on properly, you'd say something about that, too.

yeah the photography is boring. The direction for the models was probably zilch. smile, or pout, but please no dead eye stares. Composition has had no thought. Surely someone in the office there has some creative imagination and some photoshop skill.

I'll help you out with some ideas:
girl lying naked in sea of styrofoam packaging.
girl in sun god worship pose holding item above her head with god rays of light shining from behind.
extra close up girl's face next to item - they have pretty faces - doesn't have to be tits and legs.
Girl standing proud above a sea of geeks clambering from the ground around her - with her holding the item they want.

[citation][nom]gerohmygosh[/nom]Where is the girl for the PNY RAM?!?!?![/citation]

What, the award isn't enough? :)

Kidding. Truth be told, it didn't make it into the photo shoot (our fault, not PNY's). But it still deserves to be in there for its value with the AMD platform.
