I had the misfortune of viewing THG on IE 6.0 SP2 today (on a different computer than normal today).

I now see what people were saying about the "Google ads" and the banners.

THG please!!! That was a painful experience at best.

By the way it is nothing less than funny too. As it turns out there was a thread about "CRYsis" today notice the cry is caps... The reason this is important is the Google ad was about baby products :) I guess they help keep the baby from CRYing.

It would seem that if you are going to implement something like this you might want to review too.. I wonder what we will get when somebody titles a thread with "wonder", "secret", .... Will we end up with some good pics too?

I have been running using FF for the last few years and I now realize why I switched... I do not see those things in FF... Thanks to adblock...

Folks at toms, I know there was a thread started the other day which summed it up quite nicely... But I am not sure folks such as myself would have known fully what they were talking about if I continued to use my own machine.

I ask that you please review your requirements and maybe ask the community what they would like to see. If it is a matter of revenue I do believe that in the early days people would contribute to Toms just to keep it Toms.

Please give/ask us options!! I feel the nature of this site may be/become spoiled..

I realize this has been done.. I realize it is slightly negative...

I also realize that the folks here can not fix what they do not know about.

Perhaps what you put forth/see is considered appropriate.

I see it as an oportunity to maybe review and make things possibly better.

I have read the Capt. April thread fully and I find the responses by Omid kind of non customer centric, rather the opposite. I guess that is just me.

Selling out (not my words) is one thing... Alienating readers and making site load times/navigation difficult is another...

Thoughts/fixes? What can we do to help?

I like THG and want it to remain customer centric.

Hey Sebastian,

Thanks for the reply....

I only stated what I did because I have been using a surogate computer for the past several days. With IE 6.0 (not the best anyways) it really does not look/perform that well..

The only good news for me, is that I am on an extremely fast connection while using that PC.

I like the fact that you guys are taking the time to respond to this and other similar threads.... VERY MUCH APPRECIATED...

I will review (using my ie6.0 PC) and give you any comments I think that could help.

Using FireFox and adblock the forums are a true pleasure..

My first comment would be:

Please remove the Google ad graphics.... I understand the need to have Google ads running (generate revenue) but I think we could do without the pics.

Also some of the text used is QUITE LARGE in the Google ads.

Those would be my first two wants in IE...

I am writing these suggestions down as I type, keep em coming. I am glad you see that we need ads for revenue. (Most people don't make the connection) 😀

Thanks for the feedback.

Sincerely,
SebastianV
