I want to keep the motherboard/cpu/ram combo but if anyone can trim some fat it would be appreciated. i'd like either more bang for my bucks or a cheaper bang.

You are gonna want the original 4x4 memory setup you chose in the first build as the platform (2011-3) is actually a 4 channel memory platform. It will be faster using 4 sticks than two despite the speed of the ram. The only other option is to get 32 gigs and that is overkill for everything but a serious workstation.

air is fine, liquid cooling is something to read up on. With the shriking of the chips cpu and gpu liquid cooling is losing some of its edge.

I would probably go with an H100i or a coolermaster Seidon 240m.

I just want to point out that unless you want to be hooked up to two 4k monitors or something, a $1500 build will definitely run games at high or ultra for the next few years.

Edit: and if you're going to pay 2500 for a computer system, get a better case. That one looks really bad. Get something from nzxt or corsair.

I would not buy the extra case fans right now. Your new case is nice and it already comes with 4 fans. More fans = more noise and when you already have 4 it should be more than enough.

Well, you might want to reconsider the case. People said that it's a tight fit inside and better for a micro atx.
