Too PCIE SSD or not with Poseidon GTX 780

Maximus VI Formula. Have 2 Poseidons but not gaming that much anyway. Bought Plextor NVMe SSD. Lack of lanes issues I guess. Removed 2nd Poseidon(might sell or move to multimedia pc) and Put Plextor SSD in PCIE 16x(not) slot 3. It uses 3.0 4x. I can't seem to get the remaining Poseidon in 16x Slot 1 to connect any better than 8x 3.0. Am I trying to do the impossible? The Plextor SSD is doing what it's supposed to do and I figured If I could get the single Poseidon to run at 16X I could be happy with that setup. If it's not going to do that, I may just return the Plextor and go back to the Corsair Neutron SSD SATA III 6G. Whadayathink?
