Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some community feedback on something we've been working on with IcyDock. Basically, some Dell customers use after-market or third-party drives (like Samsung EVOs) in their PowerEdge servers. In doing so, you have to manually install the drives into their trays, which usually also involves purchasing trays from a third party since Dell does not sell trays by themselves. If you're a company our size, you may order hundreds of drives every month and the time it takes to screw all of those into their trays is not trivial by any means - it literally takes hours.

We contacted IcyDock to help us solve this problem and they came up with a spec and is seeking feedback to see whether it'd be valuable to the community. A link to their design is below (spaced to keep the URL intact):

If you use Dell servers and frequently have to install third-party drives, would you find a toolless option to be useful?

Well, at present we get our 2.5" trays from a third party for $10/ea. I'd imagine a toolless tray would be a bit more expensive, but what do you think is reasonable? I think $2-$4 more would be good.
