I've had enough. Every single post that even mentions these two CPU's, there is an all out brawl between AMD and INTEL fanboys. All I want to know is what will be better for MY needs? The FX-8350 or the Core i5-4670k.

I plan on recording video games (mostly minecraft, but would like to start recording more graphic intense games soon), live streaming my gameplay on Twitch.tv, editing my videos, and just casual gaming. Please try not to argue in the comments.

If I choose the 8350 I will use a GTX 770, if I choose the 4670k, I will buy a GTX 760.

Thanks for all the help! :)

Get the AMD if you like your machine to be a room heater, and you don't care about consistent performance, otherwise the 4670k is a better choice. Why would you drop from a 350 dollar video card to a 260 dollar video card to spend 40 extra bucks on a processor? Gte the 4670k and the 770 and cut elsewhere.

Although I personally have a 8350, for your needs I'd recommend the 4670k as it will perform better for the tasks you're doing. Video editing will benefit from the hyperthreading that the i5 offers and pairing it with an Nvidia card will also speed these things up. Minecraft will run best on the 4670k again thanks to better threading and again, an Nvidia card will be handy for recording as it has shadowplay :)

i5 does not have hyperthreading. The i7 does. Either processor is fine for video editing depending on the program you use. Whilst minecraft runs best on Intel, The FX 8350 is still capable of running the game well enough to play and record. Shadowplay is nice for recording and it can stream to twitch in the beta.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but isn't the GPU normally the bottleneck? So for most games would the FX 8350 paired with the GTX 770 perform basically the same as an i5-4670k with the same GPU?

It really depends on the game and other hardware and even the scene that is being displayed. For instance, if you happen to be playing planetside 2 or many MMO's where tons of players are on the screen the 4670k will destroy the 8350. However, if you were building a x264 encoding box then you'd probably want the 8350 instead since it's really great at that specifically (at or sometimes better than i7 based desktop CPUs). There are very minimal gaming cases where the 8350 will beat the 4670k.

Also, if you don't crank up things like AA then the CPU is can be the cause of slow downs in many cases too.

Nope... p.s. the i5 is much better, Intel is kicking AMDs ass... plus the thermal management on it is better. AMD is basically a personal radiator
