torrents messing up download speed?

hi,

When I torrent, after a while it seem to mess up my download speed, even after the torrent is finished. I should be getting 16mbps, but i end up dropping to around 3. After calling up my ISP (this has happened multiple times) about the slow connection, they fix it within a day by resetting something, not entirely sure what as i live in an apartment (and no it is not my router, they do something remotely). Any ideas on how i can stop this from happening?

Open your resource monitor and see what exactly is using the bandwidth.

They either have a max data limit on your broadband package, which when exceeded, they drop you down to bare minimum speeds until it resets for the next 24hr period and it is not doign this or they are throttling your connection when they detect heavy torrent traffic.

If torrent is flooding your upload bandwidth, it could slow down your download because you can't ACK downloads in time.
