toshiba a660 10/100 LAN not working

My Toshiba a660 10/100 LAN port is not working and has both the green and amber light permanently lit up, until recently I have never bothered to use the hard wired connection as I have been using wireless...any ideas...GB

First would be to make sure you have the latest driver, if no joy, try a different ethernet cable
