Toshiba BIOS Update 6.2 -> 6.4

My sister and I bought matching (almost) computers at the same time. Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5351. Microsoft is now forcing updates to Windows 10. Her's updated correctly and mine keeps failing at about 30% and recovering the previous version. Microsoft tells me that it's a driver problem and I should buy a new computer. This is why so many people hate Microsoft.

An examination of the two computers determined that a difference exists in the BIOS version of the two computers.

Sisters Insyde Corp 6.40, 11/14/2014
Mine Insyde Corp 6.20, 11/7/2012

Toshiba does not have a BIOS update for 6.40. They do have the current version, 6.7. I tried to install the 6.7 update but it failed with an error that said this update was not for my computer.

I would appreciate any advice.

Solution
Try running the troubleshooters in the Control Panel. If they don't help, it might be time to restore from a recent backup or reinstall Windows after backing up your data.
wpgwpg,

I reran the update assistant. I made sure it was run as administrator. It downloaded, verified and then updated windows 10 without any issues. When it rebooted, it got to 13% then powered down. I powered up and it started to restore previous version of windows.

Just to make sure, I started the whole process again to make sure I was running as admin at each step. Chkdsk, sfc, then dism ran without issues. I then ran Update Assistant as admin. This time, it got to 20% before crashing as it did before.

Thank you for sticking with me. -Carter
