Hi,

I just bought a 500 GB Toshiba Canvio Slim II Portable External HDD. It came with a warning:

California Prop 65 Warning
This product contains chemicals, including lead, known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.

What exactly does this mean?
(I'm assuming it doesn't mean that the outside of the HDD is coated in lead, and that the HDD is actually safe to "handle")

(Product:
)

Thanks!

It means that California is rabidly overzealous in terms of labeling for 'lead'.
That same text is included in almost everything electric or electronic.

How would that drive harm you? If you chopped it up and ate it, maybe.
