Sounds like the installation botched and it caused severe damage to your Boot Manager. This is common in upgrades, which is why it's always recommended that you back up your data beforehand and perform a clean install of the OS.

Your two options are to run Startup Repair to see if that can repair the Boot Manager, if that doesn't work then you'll need to perform a clean install of Windows 10. Doing this will cause you to lose any data on the machine, but you'll be able to boot into Windows 10.

Either way, I'd recommend that you start backing up your data. Windows 10 is more aggresive with updates and there's the possibility that there could be compatibility issues. I'd recommend backing up your data with either a disk imager (i.e...

Since there is no such thing as a free upgrade to Windows 10, you might have to buy a Windows 10 license from Microsoft. You should revert back to Windows 8.1 and then secure your product key before attempting to purchase a new Windows license.

Also, just like LukeFatwalker said, make sure that you back up all of your personal data first because you might lose it. If you can, get all of the installation media prepared in advance for all of the programs and apps that you want to install on your new system.

Good luck.
