Toshiba recovery CD problem "Extraction failed"

Hi --

When trying to sweep clean my Toshiba laptop by reverting to the factory
configuration using the recovery CD, I encounter the following error
message:

"ERROR! Extraction failed"

Nothing works from this point on.

Does anyone have an idea? All input will be highly appreciated.

Hi Anne,

It sounds like you have an 'image' disk rather than an 'OS' disk. If this is the case, you will have to have the disk replaced.
Most manufacturers will do a replacement for a nominal fee.

If your disk is an OS disk, does it tell you what file can't be extracted?
