Greetings,
New to the forum (posting) but lurked for a long time. I hope this is in the right place.

As the title says, I am trying to find out how to remove a keyboard from a Toshiba laptop. I've had it apart several times for other reasons, and I can't find a way to remove it. It is not like many other Toshiba's I've worked on, where it usually just comes out the top.

I am not sure whether I have a KB issue or not, but I'd like to get it out to blow any debris out of it. It started rather abruptly a few days ago.

  1. A very occasional double strike of a random letter that I typed.
  2. Upon waking up from sleep (not hibernate), neither the keyboard (not number pad) 1 or 2 keys work. All others are fine. This is an issue because my password contains these characters. The only resolution thus far, is a complete power down of the laptop. When it comes back up I can log in fine and the keys work as if nothing happened.
  3. As a troubleshooting measure, I changed my password so I can log in without those characters. When waking the computer now, the 1 and 2 keys still don't work on the password screen, but after logging in with my new password, the 1 and 2 keys function normally.
  4. A day or so after this started, I continued to use my laptop. I noticed that occasionally I'll be typing and my screen resolution changes. Sort of like I hit a hot key to change it. I've not been able to reproduce the key sequence. It always changes it to the same resolution. (800x600). I disabled video hot keys and it still did it a couple of times. Hasn't done it in a while.

Ordinarily, I'd suspect debris in the KB, but what puzzles me is why a reboot brings back proper functionality until a "wake up" occurs. Unlikely a driver issue.

So I guess my two questions are:
  1. How do I get the keyboard out to clean it out?
  2. Anyone else seen this issue or have any ideas.

Thank you.
