Hi all, can I put intel t9500 in my Toshiba?its and old laptop from 2007, currently have intel t7100 1.80ghz and ati radeon hd 2600, chipset gm965 Toshiba iskaa motherboard (U2E1) that's what it says in speccy, id like to know if that cpu would work on max freq and will my stock cooler be able to cool it? thx

Solution
I found some additional information that should help.

First, there is a T7800 which is almost as fast as the T9500:
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/57...Intel_Core_2_Duo_Mobile_T9500_(Socket_P).html

And the good part is that I have found evidence of the T7800 working in the A200:
https://browser.geekbench.com/geekbench3/264902

Also, the T7700 came stock on one version of the A200. And the T7800 is just a higher clocked version of the T7700 so it has a very high chance of working without any issue or even a bios upgrade...

The T7800 is just like a much higher clocked version of your current T7100, so really good chance for it to be a quick swap and up and running:
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/57...Intel_Core_2_Duo_Mobile_T7800_(Socket_P).html

And still a significant boost in performance:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compar...7800-vs-Intel-Core2-Duo-T7100/1010vs1005vs999

And there's a chance the T9500 will work too as I just found evidence of a T9300 working in an A200:
https://browser.geekbench.com/geekbench2/204917

And since the T9500 and T9300 are basically the same except the clock speed, there's a chance the T9500 would work:

And the T9300 is also a solid boost, basically in between the performance of the T7800 and T9500:
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compar...800-vs-Intel-Core2-Duo-T9300/1010vs1005vs1008

At this point, if you want to be completely certain it would work, I would go with the T7800, but if you want to gamble a bit, I'd go for either the T9300 or T9500.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for the informations man, so i can't be 100% sure that t9500 would work on my old toshiba? also bios can only be loaded from CD is that correct? and can you tell me will this same cooler be able to cool t9500 without problems? thanks again

Hey Samir, just to let you know i have swapped T7100 for T9300, works perfectly, i just had to reset to default configurations in BIOS, my laptop works a bit faster now, it is easier for him to handle browsing etc. Thank you for your help too. And i also found out that i can put 8gb ram in contrary what is declared to be only 4gb max from the official manufacturer support page. thanks

Sorry for the delayed reply! I didn't get the reply notifications. :(

That's correct. In theory the t9500 should work since the supporting microcode should be the same as the t9300, but no one has tried it before. I would use the CD method to load the bios as that would be the least potential for problems. Yep, should be the same cooler as the TDP is the same. :)
And btw. i found intel core 2 duo T9600 for a really low price! will that work too?
Unfortunately not because it uses a 1066 front side bus speed versus 800.

Awesome! You're welcome! Great to see some hardware get a second life with some small upgrades. :) Enjoy it!

Which system? I've got literally probably 100 of them...

Hm, and what do you do with them? :D that's nice, i love PCs too. Can you help me with something again? It's related to this laptop, I got some battery in it, it's older but it gets empty in like 2 minutes literally!!! My laptop just shuts down = the same effect as you would plug out power from desktop PC, just shuts down without any warning... is it problem with a battery in satellite? Or can it be something with CMOS battery? I read somewhere that it might be caused by bad CMOS..? What's your take on this? And also why is my laptop beeping? Can you check this video please?

I swapped b4 my ram from 1x1gb to 2x2gb and now this new CPU, and i have also swapped gpu. Thank you Samir

Just work really.

If you got a fake battery this can happen. Does this happen with your original one?

If you do a soft reboot, aka restarting without turning the power off and on, you will usually not get the bios f2. This and other options are typically just from a cold boot.

I got an original battery, it's been beeping like this for years, even before all these upgrade and it beeped on win 7, it's kinda annoying me because it's so loud, if i turn it in the evening and someone's sleeping it's a problem... laptop functions perfectly even tho it beeps, can weak CMOS battery cause this too?

If it's the original battery then you probably just have to replace it. Most laptop batteries won't last more than 5 years. I would highly recommend getting another original Toshiba battery, even if it is used (as long as it is good). The cheap garbage 'compatible' batteries at best are out of spec, and at their worst present fire hazards and worse, so I would avoid them at all costs.

Yes, i only buy original because i once bought a replacement one and it only lasted for like 30 mins... which is very bad... if i remove the battery and use the laptop with adapter only i get beeping too. So im not sure why is it beeping when my pc functions normally. I dont get this :(

Sounds like one of your upgrades left something not reassembled correctly. I would put the old parts back starting with the ram until the problem stops. Hopefully it doesn't require you to complete disassemble everything again, but I'm afraid it might. Be sure to look for anything that looks out of place and double check the service manual for every little screw placement and torque--this is precision work and anything out of spec can produce odd behavior.

Everything is assembled correctly sir, it also beeped with old ram, it started beeping like 7-8 years ago... i guess i will have to deal with this beeping :/

hello gorospaz and samir
I'm from Portugal.
i have a 2007 toshiba a200 (psae6e) that had a 7100 cpu. i was able to successfully upgrade to the t7700.
now i wanted to test the t9300. my bios is v.2.6 but i don't know if it works because i found this:
what is your bios? and the specific model of the a200?
thanks
