I found with path of exile as long as you focused a lot on defence you can get through the first two difficulty settings with almost any build.
Where it gets you the first time though is by making it very easy up until it suddenly isn't, when you discover you have focused on all the wrong talents.
My point being it's not so much that the bosses are hard as much as it is that the game-play leading up to them lets you build your character wrong.
At least that's how it was for me, I haven't played since the recent changes which I understand are quite bit.
My first attempt I did no research and just wanted a frost mage so went with that theme, got almost all the way through the first time without issue then had some real trouble with a boss with ground effects that were 1 shotting me. I still managed to get past though and from then on started increasing my defenses and had no further problems.
As for D3 from the previous post, "even with green items" ??? green are the best items, maybe you meant blue. A lot depends how you play D3, if you stick to story mode solo several boss fights can be quite hard for some classes the first time around. If you rip through to 70 on adventure mode and know what you are doing nothing is particularly hard. These days the bulk of players are getting others to power level them and never experiencing these fights the way a solo player would.
