In most cases your main router must support WDS. The exact implementation of this is not standard (there is no official standard), some router you must key in the mac of the repeater device to allow it to use this function. If you are using mobile broadband some of those device do not support WDS and then you need a very special repeater that can act as a router.

What is the model number of the TP-Link device? It must have native support for repeater mode, or be able to accept third-party firmware which will enable repeater mode.

If you state the model number, someone may be able to offer a solution for you.

TL-WA801ND

it has a native support no need for third party firmware.

Did you use the Quick Setup on the TP-Link to perform the repeater configuration?

Did the TP-Link successfully establish a wireless connection to the ZTE router when using the Quick Setup (or when performed manually)?

DHCP should actually be disabled on the TP-Link since clients should receive configuration settings from the ZTE. If your PC is unable to obtain an IP address with DHCP off on the TP-Link, then you may need to check the settings on the ZTE.

Also, be sure that the wireless security protocol and encryption you choose on the repeater are compatible with your devices.

Yes I did it all. I had connected two TP Link devices together before. TP Link AP with TP Link Router and it did works perfect.
But it doesn't work with TP Link with ZTE .
