Question TPM Module for my New MoBo Not Available - Do I Really Need It?

Good day or night,

I’ve been reading a few articles here about the 'TPM 2.0 Encryption Security Module' for Windows 11.

And as I inch closer to finishing my research on all parts and components for my upcoming new build in a 3-4 weeks, I see the MoBo that I plan to purchase has this 12-pin TPM Module Connector port/pins on it.

But after searching for the correct module, it seems that the one I need is nowhere to be found.
This MoBo is fairly new - might only be about 9-10 months old since becoming available, so that may be why.

I did read and acknowledge some posts on here that said ‘MS has relaxed the requirements…’.

Still, I’m naturally concerned about spending $1,200-1,500 or more on a new build, and going through the careful, delicate installation process - only to have things subsequently go for sh!t, simply because I couldn’t find (or more like no one seems to make or sell) this small, $20-30 TPM Module for my prospective MoBo.

The board I have my eye on, (and so far, really liking) is the MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk WiFi - AMD AM5 Socket.
After days and days of relentless research, this one seems to check all my boxes.
(* I have not actually purchased anything for this new build just yet – still doing research on all parts and requirements.)

Product and Manual page here:

https://us.msi.com/search/MAG X870E Tomahawk WiFi

The very limited info on the TPM Module, is on page 50 of 81 in the manual.

I do see other modules available for earlier versions, like older DDR3 and lower tier chip sets than the board I’m looking at - (like the X670 chip set, etc).

And although those modules look like they’ll fit the same 12-pin configuration physically, I’m guessing I would need the very one specified for my MoBo AM5 chip set and Windows 11 for software and hardware compatibility.

So... do I really actually need this F'n thing?

And if so, can I use what’s available for the X670 AM5 chip set MoBo, which is just an earlier model, (if I can't find the very one I need)?
(My guess would be no.)

Thanks guys,

Jay

Solution
All modern motherboards have built in tpm as firmware. What you're talking about is discrete tpm module which you can also install but is not necessary.
